We partner with The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) to provide home diagnostic blood kits for patients. These easy-to-use kits can be used in the privacy of your home and deliver accurate, robust results, accompanied by a guidance report. This method is an excellent way to introduce health screening into the corporate space without any infrastructural changes, as we manage the entire process for you.
By performing two of these essential tests annually over a three-year cycle, we aim to cover a comprehensive profile of everyone’s health.
◤ Cholesterol Screening
Importance: Cholesterol levels reflect the health of your cardiovascular system. High levels of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Regular screening helps in identifying those at risk, allowing for preventive measures like dietary adjustments and lifestyle changes.
◤ Diabetes Screening
Importance: Diabetes is often silent in its early stages but can lead to serious complications if undiagnosed. A blood glucose test checks for early signs of diabetes or prediabetes, allowing for lifestyle interventions that can prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.
◤ Blood Count and Anaemia Screen
Importance: This test evaluates your blood for conditions like anaemia, infections, and other blood disorders. Regular blood counts help identify deficiencies or irregularities that could impact energy levels, immunity, and overall health.
◤ Thyroid Function
Importance: Thyroid hormones regulate metabolism, energy, and mood. An imbalance in thyroid function can affect nearly every system in your body, leading to fatigue, weight changes, and mood disorders. Screening ensures early detection of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
◤ Bone Health (Calcium, Phosphate, and Vitamin D)
Importance: These nutrients are essential for strong bones and overall skeletal health. Deficiencies in calcium, phosphate, or vitamin D can increase the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. Regular monitoring can guide diet or supplement choices to maintain bone strength.
◤ Gout Screening
Importance: Uric acid levels are measured to assess the risk of gout, a painful form of arthritis that can impact joints, especially in the feet. Monitoring levels helps in dietary guidance and preventive measures to manage the risk of gout attacks. By identifying high uric acid levels early, we can reduce the risk of gout and potentially mitigate risks associated with heart disease as there is an association with high uric acid and coronary heart disease.
◤ Liver and Kidney Function Test
Importance: Liver and kidney tests measure the organs’ ability to filter waste and regulate essential bodily functions. Early detection of dysfunction in these organs enables timely intervention and can prevent complications affecting metabolism, hydration, and detoxification.
◤ PSA Prostate Cancer Screen (for Men)
Importance: PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) screening helps detect early signs of prostate cancer, especially in men over 50 or those at higher risk. Early identification of elevated PSA levels enables timely intervention and increases the chances of effective treatment.
◤ CA125 Ovarian Cancer Marker (for Women)
Importance: The CA125 test is a marker for ovarian cancer, especially important for women with a family history of cancer. Regular monitoring can catch early, treatable stages of ovarian cancer, particularly for those at increased risk.
◤ Bowel Cancer Screen
Importance: Bowel cancer screening, typically done via stool tests, identifies hidden blood in the stool, an early indicator of potential colorectal cancer. Detecting bowel cancer early dramatically increases treatment success and long-term survival rates.
By following this systematic health screening approach with Hessington Direct, we aim to catch any potential health concerns early and guide you towards proactive health management.
How to Collect Your Blood Test At Home
TDL TINY™ microtainers are skin puncture kits for self blood samples collection designed to be used from the comfort of the patients home. Manufactured by BD Diagnostics and processed by The Doctors Labpratory (TDL), TDL TINY™ packs are made up by TDL and contain everything needed for a patient to self-collect their blood sample.
Video:
Most people are not experienced at self-collection of their own blood. Whilst it is certainly possible to do a number of tests from one TINY and it is possible to collect for two or three microtainers – the most successful outcomes are collected by patients who read the instructions given in each pack, and who collect enough sample for one microtainer. Instructions for sample collection are enclosed in each pack. A completed request form will be generated from our platform to accompany the returned sample. Results will always be sent to the employee via our platform with a bespoke medical report mapping their wellbeing questionnaire results and biochemical marker result. This will provide an in-depth bespoke health and wellbeing information to the employee with helpful guidance.
